Salt Lake City, UT—The No. 21 SLCC Men's Basketball team (21-4, 7-2 SWAC) defeated Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponent Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) (7-17, 1-9 SWAC) 89-53 on Saturday night in Rangely, CO. The win is the third straight conference road victory for the Bruins.

Salt Lake out-rebounded CNCC 44-32 and shot 54.0 percent from the field. The Bruins shot 32.0 percent from three point range and finished at 69.5 percent from the foul line. SLCC held the Spartans to 33.3 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from beyond the arc. Every SLCC player that dressed played.

With the road win, SLCC remains in second place in the SWAC standings behind rival No. 2-ranked College of Southern Idaho (22-2, 8-1 SWAC).

Stats vs. CNCC: Bruin freshman guard Zerrion Payton (Oakland, CA) led all scorers with 23 points on 6-for-8 from the field. The Modesto Christian High School graduate was 2-for-3 from three point range and made nine of his 12 free throw attempts.

Sophomore guard Jaden Jackson (Salt Lake City, UT) scored 14 points in the winning effort and freshman forward Neal Monson (Sandy, UT) added 12 points and seven rebounds.

SLCC sophomore guard Gary Payton II (Las Vegas, NV) finished with nine points and freshman forward CJ Spjute (Boise, ID) turned in eight points and six rebounds.

Next up for Head Coach Todd Phillips and the Bruins is a road matchup with in-state opponent Snow College (12-11, 3-6 SWAC) on Saturday, Feb. 8 in Ephraim, UT with tipoff slated for 5 p.m. SLCC leads the regular season series with Snow College 2-0. The Bruins defeated the Badgers 68-54 on Dec. 14 in Ephraim and topped Snow College 87-67 on Jan. 18 at Bruin Arena.
