Bruins prep for first SWAC home games of 2013-2014

Women's Basketball:

SALT LAKE CITY—The SLCC Women's Basketball team (14-4, 3-0 SWAC) has two home games on tap this week at Bruin Arena. SLCC will play its Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) home opener against Colorado Northwestern Community College (5-11, 0-3 SWAC) on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 5:30 p.m.

The Bruins will then face in-state opponent USU-Eastern (8-9, 2-1 SWAC) on Saturday, Jan. 11 with tipoff slated for 3 p.m.

Salt Lake has won nine straight games and is currently in first place atop the SWAC standings as the only team in the conference without a loss in league play.

SLCC is averaging 68.8 points scored per game, led by sophomore guard Natalie Parsons (Bountiful, UT) at 13.4 points per contest. Second on the team in scoring is freshman guard Cassidy Fraughton (American Fork, UT) at 11.9 points per outing.

The Bruins are allowing an average of 57.4 points per game to the opposition.

Men's Basketball:

SALT LAKE CITY—The No. 14 SLCC Men's Basketball team (15-3, 2-1 SWAC) will play a pair of home games this week at Bruin Arena. Salt Lake will host its Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) home opener against Colorado Northwestern Community College (6-11, 0-3 SWAC) on Thursday, Jan. 9 with tipoff slated for 7:30 p.m.

The Bruins will then host in-state opponent No. 16-ranked USU-Eastern (16-1, 3-0 SWAC) on Saturday, Jan. 11 with a 5 p.m. start time. USU-Eastern currently leads the SWAC standings as the only unbeaten team in conference play.
SLCC is currently in third place in the SWAC standings behind USU-Eastern and No. 15 College of Southern Idaho (16-2, 3-1 SWAC).

The Bruins are averaging 80.8 points scored per game, led by freshman forward Neal Monson (Sandy, UT) at 17.5 points per contest. Second on the team in scoring is sophomore guard Gary Payton II (Las Vegas, NV) with 13.9 points per outing.

SLCC is allowing an average of 68.4 points per game to its opposition.
