COEUR D'ALENE, ID—The No. 14-ranked SLCC Men's Basketball team (15-3, 2-1 SWAC) defeated Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) rival North Idaho College (NIC) (15-4, 2-2 SWAC) by a final score of 66-64 on Saturday evening at Christianson Gymnasium.

The Bruins shot 42.6 percent from the field with three players finishing in double figures in scoring. SLCC was out-rebounded by the Cardinals 40-37.

Stats vs. NIC: SLCC freshman forward Neal Monson (Sandy, UT) scored 18 points and completed a double-double with 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Gary Payton II (Las Vegas, NV) added 13 points and nine rebounds and sophomore forward Kurtis Toolson (Gilbert, AZ) turned in 11 points with five rebounds.

Freshman guard De'Sean Parsons (Sacramento, CA) scored eight points with four rebounds to help the Bruins to their second league win this season.

Next up for Head Coach Todd Phillips and the Bruins is the team's 2013-2014 SWAC home opener vs. Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) (6-10, 0-2 SWAC) on Thursday, Jan. 9 at Bruin Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
