Bruins to host Cards in Thursday night conference clashes

SALT LAKE CITY—The nationally-ranked SLCC Men's and Women's Basketball teams will host Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) rival North Idaho College (NIC) on Thursday night at Bruin Arena. Fans who can't make it out to the arena for the games can watch them live on the SLCC Athletics iHigh.com Web stream using the links provided below.

Preview: The Bruins have won 12 consecutive games and have sole possession of first place in the SWAC standings as the league's only unbeaten team (6-0). NIC lost its last ballgame and seeks a return to the winning path in the hostile confines of Bruin Arena. SLCC is 8-0 at home this season and NIC is 4-1 in away games.

Last Time They Met: The Bruins defeated the Lady Cardinals 68-63 on Jan. 4 in Coeur d'Alene, ID in an overtime battle. Salt Lake trailed by two points at the half and rallied to tie the contest at the end of regulation. Neither side scored for the first three minutes and 31 seconds of the extra frame until SLCC sophomore guard Summer Yack (South Jordan, UT) banked in a three-point basket to give SLCC a 61-58 lead.

The Bruins would get another three point basket from sophomore guard Natalie Parsons (Bountiful, UT) and hold on with late free throws to secure the road victory.

Preview: The Bruins are winners of four consecutive games and are in second place in the SWAC standings, a half game behind rival Southern Idaho by virtue of a head-to-head loss to the Golden Eagles. Salt Lake is 8-0 at home this season and NIC is 7-2 in away matchups.

Last Time They Met: SLCC squeaked past NIC 66-64 on Jan. 4 in Coeur d'Alene, ID. The Bruins shot 42.6 percent from the field, with three players scoring in double figures on the night. Salt Lake was out-rebounded by NIC 40-37.

Bruin freshman forward Neal Monson (Sandy, UT0 scored 18 points and completed a double-double with 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Gary Payton II (Las Vegas, NV) added 13 points and nine rebounds and sophomore forward Kurtis Toolson (Gilbert, AZ) finished with 11 points and five boards.
