Twin Falls, ID—The
No. 6-ranked SLCC Softball team (45-9) defeated Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) (5-49) by a 5-2 final score in the first round of Region 18 Tournament play on Wednesday. The Bruins won all nine matchups with the Spartans this season.
SLCC sophomore outfielder
Malia Campos (Murray, UT) crossed the plate twice in the first three innings and sophomore infielder
Maddy Woodard (Murray, UT) gave SLCC a 3-0 lead in the third inning by scoring sophomore outfielder
Hannah Williams (Las Vegas, NV) from third base with a single.
RBI singles from
Campos and
Williams in the fourth inning would cap off the scoring for SLCC.
SLCC Stats: Sophomore pitcher
MaCauley Flint (Roy, UT) picked up the win with 10 strikeouts and no runs allowed in 6.2 innings of work.
Campos was 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles, three runs scored and one RBI.
Williams was 2-for-2 with one RBI and
Woodard was 1-for-3 with one RBI in the winning effort.
