Bruin Softball set for NJCAA quarterfinal matchup with Chipola College

St. George, UT—The
No. 6-ranked SLCC Softball team (50-9) has won 11 straight games and will square off with
No. 10-ranked Chipola College (45-9) in NJCAA Nationals quarterfinal action on Friday, May 17 at 2:30 p.m. on scenic field four.
The
No. 2-seeded Bruins have won both of their NJCAA Tournament contests by virtue of the run rule and have completed each game in just five innings. SLCC downed
No. 15 seed Georgia Perimeter College 9-1 on Wednesday and bested
No. 10 seed Weatherford College 10-2 on Thursday.
Break it down: The winner of the SLCC vs. Chipola game will face the winner of
No. 8 seed Wallace St. vs.
No. 5 seed Pima College in the semifinal round on Friday at 7:30 p.m. on field four. The losing teams from the quarterfinal contests will meet in the drop down bracket final (also on Friday at 7:30 p.m.) with the emerging team playing for an NJCAA National Championship against the winner's bracket victor on Saturday, May 18 at Noon.
As 'if'…: Saturday's National Championship Game presents the possibility of an 'if' game. The 'if game' takes place only if the unbeaten winner's bracket victor suffers a loss in the title contest. In that case, the teams will meet once more in a final clash for the ultimate prize as the tournament follows a double elimination format.
