Bruin Softball claws out two home wins over Southern Nevada

Taylorsville, UT—The No. 6-ranked SLCC Softball team (39-8, 33-5 SWAC) picked up a pair of victories over Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponent College of Southern Nevada (CSN) (24-24, 17-20 SWAC) on Friday at Bruin Field. SLCC topped the Coyotes 5-2 in game one and won a 6-3 decision in the day's second contest.

Game 1 SLCC Stats: Bruin sophomore pitcher MaCauley Flint (Roy, UT) picked up the game one victory with nine strikeouts and two earned runs allowed. Sophomore outfielder Malia Campos (Murray, UT) was 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and two runs scored and sophomore catcher Susan Duke (Salem, UT) was 2-for-2 with a home run, a walk and two RBIs.

Game 2 SLCC Stats: Freshman pitcher Ashley Kay (South Jordan, UT) earned the game two win with four strikeouts and two earned runs allowed in five innings of work. Campos was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and a stolen base and sophomore infielder Maddy Woodard (Murray, UT) was 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored in the winning effort.

Next up for Head Coach Mary Kay Amicone and the Bruins is another doubleheader against CSN on Saturday, Apr. 20 at Bruin Field. First pitch for game one is slated for Noon. Saturday's doubleheader takes place on Swing for Life Day for the Bruins, with the team autographing special pink merchandise that will be available for silent auction. All proceeds from the day's events will go directly to funding cancer research at the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
