Taylorsville, UT—The
No. 2-ranked SLCC Softball team (37-8, 31-5 SWAC) fell twice to Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) rival
No. 6-ranked College of Southern Idaho (CSI) (38-8, 32-4 SWAC) on Saturday at Bruin Field.
The Bruins were one out away from a game one victory, but costly late errors and timely CSI hits drove the Golden Eagles to a 7-5 victory. The Bruins were out-hit 16-6 in a rain-delayed game two and lost 7-1. The pair of losses moves SLCC into second place in the SWAC behind CSI.
Game 1 SLCC Stats: Freshman pitcher
Kailey Christensen (Spanish Fork, UT) was the losing pitcher of record in game one and struck out three CSI batters with four runs allowed, though none were earned runs, in 2.2 innings of work.
Sophomore outfielder
Tanisha Anderson (Murray, UT) was 2-for-3 with a double and one run batted in (RBI) and sophomore outfielder
Malia Campos (Murray, UT) was 2-for-4 with one RBI and a run scored. Sophomore outfielder
Lauren Hager (Sandy, UT) was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI in the losing effort.
Game 2 SLCC Stats: Freshman pitcher
Ashley Kay (South Jordan, UT) took the game two loss with three strikeouts and two earned runs allowed in 2.1 innings pitched.
Hager was 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and a stolen base and sophomore infielder
Maddy Woodard (Murray, UT) was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.
