Bruin Softball gets set for SWAC showdowns with Western Nevada College

Salt Lake City, UT—The No. 4-ranked SLCC Softball team (32-5, 26-2 SWAC) will play a pair of doubleheaders against Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponent Western Nevada College (WNC) (8-28, 5-18 SWAC) this Friday and Saturday, Apr. 5-6 at Bruin Field. First pitch for game one on Friday is slated for 1:00 p.m. and Saturday's first contest will get underway at Noon.

The Bruins lead the season series with the WNC 4-0 and outscored the Wildcats 36-11 in the pair of doubleheaders earlier this season. SLCC is averaging 7.4 runs scored per contest and is allowing an average of just 1.9 runs per game.

Bruin sophomore pitching ace MaCauley Flint (Roy, UT) leads the team with a win-loss mark of 16-2 in 15 starts. Flint has struck out 169 opposing batters, has seven shutouts and has thrown a perfect game and a no-hitter this season in 117.1 innings of work.

Sophomore outfielder Malia Campos (Murray, UT) has a team best .472 batting average and 51 hits on the season. The Murray High School graduate also leads the Bruins in on-base percentage at .555. Sophomore infielder Maddy Woodard (Murray, UT) leads the team with 49 runs batted in (RBIs) and has hit four home runs so far this season. Sophomore designated player Whitney Holt (Tooele, UT) is tops on the squad with eight home runs.

SLCC Baseball carries five straight wins into weekend matchups with WNC

Salt Lake City, UT—The SLCC Baseball team (26-10, 14-6 SWAC) will play a pair of Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) doubleheaders at Cate Field this Friday and Saturday, Apr. 5-6 against Western Nevada College (WNC) (24-16, 9-11 SWAC). Friday's first game has a start set for 1:00 p.m. and Saturday's first contest is slated for a Noon first pitch.

The Bruins lead the season series with WNC 4-1, though both teams have scored a combined 17 runs in the five matchups. SLCC is averaging 7.2 runs scored per game and is allowing an average of 4.6 runs to the opposition. The Bruins have won five straight contests heading into this weekend's games.

SLCC sophomore catcher Bo Fisher (American Fork, UT) has a team-best .398 batting average (minimum 40 at-bats) and also leads the team with 13 doubles. Fisher has an on-base percentage of .468 to go with 22 RBIs this season.

Sophomore infielder Sam Goold (St. George, UT) leads the Bruins with five home runs and is second on the squad with 26 RBIs. Sophomore infielder/pitcher JC Snyder has a team high 28 RBIs on the year. 

The SLCC pitching staff has a combined earned run average (ERA) of 3.84 and is led in the win-loss column by freshman right hander Brady Corless (Spanish Fork, UT) at 5-0. Corless is tied for second on the team with an ERA of 2.25 and has struck out 30 opposing batters this season in seven starts.
