SLCC Softball stretches win streak to 11 games with doubleheader sweep of NIC

Bruins blank Cardinals twice, winning game one 8-0 and game two 5-0

Coeur d'Alene, ID—The No. 4-ranked SLCC Softball team (31-4, 25-1 SWAC) picked up a pair of Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) road victories over North Idaho College (NIC) (11-18, 8-14 SWAC) on Friday. The Bruins topped the Cardinals 8-0 in the day's opening contest and defeated NIC 5-0 in game two.

SLCC extended its win streak to 11 games with today's wins and leads the season series with NIC 6-0.

Sophomore pitcher MaCauley Flint (Roy, UT) picked up the game one shutout victory with six strikeouts and allowed just one hit to NIC. Sophomore infielder Whitney Holt (Tooele, UT) was 2-for-3 at the plate with four RBIs in the contest and sophomore outfielder Malia Campos (Murray, UT) was 3-for-3 with a double in the winning effort.

Freshman pitcher Ashley Kay (South Jordan, UT) earned the game two victory with seven strikeouts and allowed just two Cardinal hits. Holt was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and freshman infielder Payton Palmer (Roy, UT) was 2-for-3.

Next up for Head Coach Mary Kay Amicone and the Bruins is a second doubleheader with NIC on Saturday, Mar. 30 in Coeur d'Alene, ID. First pitch for game one is slated for Noon (Pacific).
