SLCC Softball wins 18th straight, takes pair of road contests from CSN

Bruins extend win streak to 18 games, still the only unbeaten team in SWAC play

Henderson, NV—The No. 1-ranked SLCC Softball team (20-3, 14-0 SWAC) won a pair of Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) road matchups over the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) (10-11, 4-6 SWAC) on Friday. The Bruins defeated the Coyotes 2-1 in the day's early game and picked up a 3-1 victory over CSN in the afternoon contest. SLCC has won 18 straight games and remains as the only team with no losses in SWAC play.

Bruin sophomore pitcher MaCauley Flint (Roy, UT) picked up the win in game one with six strikeouts and no earned runs allowed. Sophomore outfielder Tanisha Anderson (Murray, UT) was 2-for-3 at the plate with a solo home run and freshman infielder Lauryn Kirschner (Kaysville, UT) was 2-for-3 with a double in the winning effort.

In game two, freshman pitcher Kailey Christensen (Spanish Fork, UT) earned the win, striking out five Coyote batters and allowing six hits and one earned run. Sophomore catcher/first baseman Lyndsey Healey (Spanish Fork, UT) was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs and sophomore catcher Susan Duke (Salt Lake City, UT) was 2-for-4 with one RBI. Freshman infielder Payton Palmer (Roy, UT) was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate in the winning effort.

Next up for Head Coach Mary Kay Amicone and the Bruins is another doubleheader against CSN on Saturday, Mar. 2 in Henderson, NV. First pitch for game one is slated for Noon.
