No. 1 Bruin Softball stretches win streak to 8, sweeps CNCC in St. George

Bruins remain unbeaten in SWAC play, outscore Spartans 44-6 in four games

St George, UT—The No. 1-ranked SLCC Softball team (10-3, 4-0 SWAC) extended its win streak to eight games by picking up its second doubleheader sweep of Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponent Colorado Northwestern CC (CNCC) (0-4 SWAC) in two days. The Bruins defeated the Spartans 16-2 in game one and won 4-1 in game two. The Bruins outscored the Spartans 44-6 through four games.

In game one of the doubleheader, sophomore pitcher MaCauley Flint (Roy, UT) picked up the win and allowed no Spartan base hits through five innings of work. Sophomore outfielder Lauryn Hager (Sandy, UT) was four of five at the plate with 2 RBI and sophomore catcher Lyndsey Healey (Spanish Fork, UT) went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI. Freshman infielder Payton Palmer (Roy, UT) turned in a 4-for-5 performance at the plate with four RBI in the winning effort.

In game two, freshman pitcher Ashley Kay (South Jordan, UT) picked up the win, allowing no hits through four innings pitched. Sophomore outfielder Hannah Williams (Las Vegas, NV) went 3 for 4 at the plate with a double and sophomore infielder Maddy Woodard (Murray, UT) hit a solo home run. Sophomore outfielder Tanisha Anderson (Murray, UT) was two of three hitting with a double to help the Bruins stay unbeaten in conference play.

Next up for Head Coach Mary Kay Amicone and the Bruins is a doubleheader with SWAC rival North Idaho College (3-4, 0-0 SWAC) on Friday, Feb. 8 in St. George, UT. First pitch for game one is slated for 1 p.m.
