St George, UT—The No. 1-ranked SLCC Softball team (8-3, 2-0 SWAC) opened the Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) season with a doubleheader sweep of Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) (0-2 SWAC) on Wednesday. The Bruins defeated the Spartans 10-0 in the day's opening contest and won 14-3 in the afternoon game.

In game one of the doubleheader, sophomore pitcher MaCauley Flint (Roy, UT) struck out 11 Spartan batters and allowed just one hit to earn the win. Sophomore infielder Whitney Holt (Tooele, UT) went 3-for-4 at the plate with a solo home run and two total RBIs. Sophomore outfielder Tanisha Anderson (Murray, UT) was also 3-for-4 at the plate in the winning effort.

In game two, freshman pitcher Kailey Christensen (Spanish Fork, UT) picked up the win, allowing just one CNCC base hit in three innings of work. Sophomore infielder Maddy Woodard (Murray, UT) went 3 for 4 hitting, driving in three RBIs. Holt added a two-run home run in a 3-for-4 performance at the plate and sophomore catcher Lyndsey Healey (Spanish Fork, UT) hit a two-run home run to help the top-ranked Bruins win their sixth straight game overall.

Next up for Head Coach Mary Kay Amicone and the Bruins is another doubleheader with CNCC on Thursday, Feb. 7 in St. George, UT. First pitch for game one is slated for 1 p.m.
