ROCK SPRINGS, WY—The
No. 17-ranked SLCC Men's Basketball team (7-1) defeated non-conference opponent Western Wyoming Community College (WWCC) (4-4) by a final score of
80-73 on Tuesday night. The win gives SLCC a season series sweep over WWCC 2-0.
The Bruins out-rebounded the Mustangs 38-30 and shot 54.1% from the field. SLCC went 23-for-35 from the free throw line compared to WWCC's eight makes on 13 attempts.
Salt Lake had five players reach double figures in scoring and shot 38.5% from three point range to secure its second consecutive road victory.
Stats vs. WWCC: Bruin freshman forward
Neal Monson (Sandy, UT) led all scorers with 25 points to go with 14 rebounds and two blocks.
Monson went 9-for-10 from the field and 7-for-8 from the free throw line.
Freshman guard
De'Sean Parsons (Sacramento, CA) added 13 points on 5-of-8 from the field and grabbed seven rebounds. Sophomore guard
Jaden Jackson (West Jordan, UT) turned in 12 points on 3-for-4 from three point range and freshman guard
Zerrion Payton (Oakland, CA) finished with 11 points.
Sophomore forward
Kurtis Toolson (Gilbert, AZ) rounded out SLCC's players in double figures with 11 points in the winning effort.

Todd Phillips and the Bruins is a home contest against the Utah Pump n' Run program on Friday, Nov. 29 at the annual SLCC Thanksgiving Classic. Tipoff at Bruin Arena is slated for 6 p.m.
