Baseball: No. 5 Bruins Clinch SWAC title with Two Wins

Price, UT- The 5th ranked SLCC Baseball team clinched the Scenic West title for the first time in the programs history with two wins over #19 Western Nevada 14-13 and 4-3.  The Bruins battled back to take game one after falling down 11-8 early in the game and held on to take game two.  With the two wins Salt Lake moves to 40-6 overall and 31-4 in conference play.
 
In game one both teams bats were alive and well with 19 runs being scoring in the first three innings.  The Bruins used a five run fifth inning to take the lead and held on to take the game.  Palmer Page was 2 for 4 with two RBI and a home run.  Tyson Popoff was 2 for 4 with three RBI and Nathan Fishel went 2 for 3 with a double.  Dane Fuller got the save while Justin Rupe got the win.
 
AJ Carmen quieted the scoring in game two going five innings allowing three hits and seven strikeouts while Dane Fuller got his second save of the day closing out the ninth.  Popoff blasted a solo home run going 2 for 3 at the plate.  JC Snyder was 2 for 2 and Dalton Gust was 1 for 2 with two RBI.
 
The two wins clinch the regular season title for the first time in the programs history and they will host the Region 18 Tournament starting on May 9th.
