SLCC Softball wins two of three

Salt Lake Community College remained undefeated in the NJCAA Division I Women's Softball National Championship tournament with a 2-0 victory over Howard College on Friday.  The Bruins picked up their runs on a solo home run by Kylee Brinkerhoff in the fourth and an RBI double by Ariel Zimmerman in the
sixth.

Zimmerman threw her second shutout of the tournament striking out nine batters over seven innings of work.

#2 Salt Lake Community College scored five times in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back, cruising to a 16-4 win over #14 Lake Land College at the NJCAA Softball National Championship tournament on Friday.

The Bruins scored another trio of runs in the third inning, and posted eight more runs in the fourth, highlighted by a grand slam from Madi White.

Kylee Colvin went three innings for the Bruins, allowing only a single earned run to claim the win for SLCC. Ariel Zimmerman came on in relief, pitching two innings to close out the game.

Krystin Jachim, Kylee Brinkerhoff, White, Zimmerman, and Brooke Budge each recorded two hits for the Bruins, who racked up 13 hits over four innings. White finished the day with five RBI, while Shay Wallace added three RBI.

Yavapai scored all six runs in the first three innings to hand Salt Lake their first loss of the tournament.  The Bruins recorded seven hits however they left 10 runners stranded. 

Becky Simonson recorded two hits but was the only Bruin with a multi hit game. 

Salt Lake will face the winner of Blinn/Tallahassee tomorrow at noon in St. George Utah.
