SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake Community College Bruin Softball team opened up Region 18 tournament play with a 9-1 five inning run-rule over Snow College. Ariel Zimmerman threw her 1st career no hitter with six strikeouts in five innings of work.
Salt Lake gave up a early 1st inning unearned run but bounced back to score three runs in the 1st, 3rd and 5th innings. Becky Simonson was 2 for 4 with two RBI's, Krystin Jachim was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Kylee Brinkerhoff knocked a run scoring double and Madi White went 3 for 3 driving home two runs.

In the first game of the day Snow College upset the fourth seed North Idaho 9-6. North Idaho scored six runs in the sixth inning to tie the game however Snow answered back with three runs in the seventh inning.

Southern Nevada scored two early runs to coast to the 4-1 win over Western Nevada. Southern Nevada collected nine hits and Monet Orsmby picked up the win with five strikeouts.

Two solo home runs propelled Southern Nevada to the 5-2 upset of the second seed Southern Idaho. Southern Idaho scored their two runs early in the game but was unable to push any more across the plate.
