Bruin Softball Powers past North Idaho 5-4 & 6-1

St. George, UT – The Salt Lake Community College softball team opened up conference play with two wins over North Idaho College 5-4 and 6-1.  The Bruins have won eight straight behind clutch hitting and strong pitching.

North Idaho jumped on the board early however Salt Lake answered back with two home runs by DJ Richardson (2-4, 1 RBI) and Kylee Brinkerhoff (2-3, 3 RBI).  Salt Lake scattered nine hits while Ariel Zimmerman shut down North Idaho allowing three hits with 11 strikeouts. 

Salt Lake came out hot in the second game scoring three runs in the first and three in the third.  Dezlee Roberts allowed one run on four hits striking out three.  Krystin Jachim was 3-3, Savannah Webster was 2-3 with two RBIs and Madi White was 1-3 with two RBI.

Salt Lake (10-4, 2-0 SWAC) takes on North Idaho in a double header tomorrow starting at noon in St. George, Utah
