Zimmerman leads Salt Lake in sweep over NIC

St. George, UT – Freshmen pitcher Ariel Zimmerman helped Salt Lake complete the sweep of North Idaho with 22 strikeouts over 11 innings of work allowing zero earned runs.  The Bruins record stands at 12-4 overall and 4-0 in SWAC play.

Zimmerman struck out 15 batters while allowing four hits in game one.  The score was locked up at 0-0 thru five innings till Kylee Brinkerhoff smacked a three run home run to start the scoring.  The Bruins would tack on two more runs in the sixth inning. Krystin Jachim was 1-for-2 with two RBI in the game. 

It would take ten innings in the final game for Salt Lake to complete the sweep winning 7-6.  All three pitchers saw action with Zimmerman picking up the win throwing four innings with two hits and seven strikeouts.  The Bruins were down 6-2 in the fourth when Star Hutchings (1-for -4, 3 RBI, HR) hit a three run home run to bring Salt Lake within one run.  Then in the seventh inning Savannah Webster (2-for-5, 2 RBI, 2 doubles) knocked in the tying run to force extra innings.  After three scoreless innings a Kylee Brinkerhoff (2-for-6, 1 RBI) single in the tenth inning won the game.
