Softball falls short in season opener

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – The SLCC Softball team dropped two games at the Las Vegas Kick Off Tournament.  SLCC lost the first game 8-7 to South Mountain College and fell to Pima in game two 2-0. 

In game one SLCC jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning but were unable to hold the lead losing 8-7.  DJ Richardson hit a three run home run, Kylee Brinkerhoff shot a double into the gap and Becky Simonson was 1-3 in the game.  Salt Lake finished the game with just five hits while South Mountain had nine. 

Ariel Zimmerman allowed four hits with five k's in the 2-0 loss to Pima College.  Offensively SLCC struck out nine times with four hits.  Krystin Jachim finished the game 2-4 with a double.
