Salt Lake City, Utah- No. 17 SLCC Softball (34-10) got their second consecutive sweep versus North Idaho College (15-36).
The Bruins won the first game of the day 16-2 in five innings. RHP Aubrie Hansen got the win and pitched four scoreless innings. Salt Lake had 16 hits in the game and five different players had a multi-hit game. CF Lahela Painter and SS Jazmine Prathan both went 3-3 and combined for five RBI and five runs scored. Salt Lake scored five runs in the second, third, and fourth innings.
The Bruins won the series finale 13-10. North Idaho grabbed a quick lead as they plated four runs in the top of the first. The Cardinals led 5-0 after a solo home run in the third inning. In the bottom of third the Bruins rallied with two outs and took a 6-5. Eight straight batters reached base as the Bruins had seven hits and one walk with two outs. Savannah Palmatier, Irma Medina, Olivia Harker, and Makaila Schneider all hit RBI singles in the inning. Jazmine Prathan added an RBI triple.
The Cardinals quickly tied the game and then took an 8-6 lead with a solo home run and a two-run home run in the top of the fourth. The Bruins had five runs off four hits in the bottom of the fourth and took a 11-8 lead. Palmatier hit a two-RBI double and Prathan hit a three-run home run in the inning. Painter extended the Bruins lead with a two-RBI double in the bottom of the fifth. NIC got a run back in the sixth and hit another solo home run in the seventh inning for the final run of the game.
