West Jordan, Utah- No. 2 seed Salt Lake came from behind and defeated No. 3 seed USU-Eastern 8-6 in game one.
USU-Eastern got started early as three RBI singles got the Eagles a 5-0 lead before the Bruins could even bat.
In the bottom of the fourth DH Kade Gambill hit a two-run home run to spark Salt Lake. LF Lute Chavez hit a two-run home run in the fifth to make it a 5-4 game. In the sixth inning, C AJ Thomas scored on a wild pitch to tie the game. Lute Chavez homered again to give Salt Lake a 6-5 lead. The Bruins scored for a fifth straight inning with a two-RBI double from 2B Gage Wareham, making the Bruins lead 8-5.
RHP Easton Davies threw five scoreless innings and recorded four strikeouts after a rough first inning. LHP Mason Green pitched the last three innings for Salt Lake. Green struck out three batters and picked up the win for the Bruins.
