Price, Utah- No. 17 SLCC Softball (26-10) split Sunday's doubleheader with USU-Eastern (12-20).
Salt Lake won the first game of the day 12-9 in eight innings. The Bruins trailed 4-1 after four innings of play. Salt Lake tied the game 4-4 with a home run from 3B Makaila Schneider. USU-Eastern retook the lead in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single.
The Bruins took a 7-5 lead in the top of the seventh with an RBI single from RF Jettlee Ioane and a two-RBI single from SS Jazmine Prathan. USU-E was clutch again and scored two in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings. The Bruins plated five runs in the eight. Prathan recorded another two RBI hit, 2B Irma Medina brought in Prathan into score, and DH Olivia Harker hit a two-run home run. The Eagles got two in the eighth, but it wasn't enough.
USU-Eastern came back and won the series finale 10-8. Salt Lake jumped to a 7-1 lead after Ioane hit a bases clearing triple. The Eagles got back in the game as they scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Schneider hit an RBI single in the top of the fifth to give SLCC an 8-5 lead. In the bottom of the sixth USU-Eastern plated five runs and pulled off the upset.
