West Jordan, Utah- Salt Lake baseball (28-12) defeated USU-Eastern (25-24) in eight innings 11-3 in game one of the four game series.
RHP Case Beames (2-2) pitched five scoreless innings and had four strikeouts as he picked up the win.
The top of the order shined for the Bru Cru as CF Tyler West went 3-4 and Riley Brown went 3-3. West hit an RBI single in the eighth to end the game. SWAC RBI leader Drew Smith drove in four runs for Salt Lake. C AJ Thomas homered for the Bruins. SLCC had 13 hits in the game and broke open the game with a four spot in the bottom of the third. Neither team committed an error. USU-Eastern LF Gaige Woods went 3-3 in the loss with a home run.
