West Jordan, Utah- No. 20 Salt Lake Baseball (15-6) swept Northeastern Junior College (16-10) in the four game series between the Plainsmen and the Bruins.
The Bruins won the first game of Sunday's doubleheader 11-0 in five innings. The Bruins scored all eleven of the game's runs in the bottom of the second. Every starting batter for Salt Lake plated a run in the second inning.
DH Grady Daniels had a team-high three RBI for Salt Lake. CF Tyler West, 2B Gage Wareham, and 1B Kaden Hudson all recorded two hits. RHP Collin Roos pitched all five innings for Salt Lake. Roos picked up his third win of the season and gave up five hits and struck out five.
The Bruins won the series finale 17-0 in seven innings. Salt Lake scored at least one run in every inning. The Bruins scored three runs in both the first and second innings. 2B Greyson Martin extended the lead to 8-0 in the third with a two-RBI double. RF Kade Gambill added a solo home run in the fourth. Tyler West hit an inside-the-park home run in the fifth inning and 1B Alex Vernon added the finishing touches with a pinch-hit grand slam in the bottom of the sixth.
RHP Zaylun Fenn started for the Bruins and pitched three scoreless innings. RHP Max Mousser pitched two scoreless innings and earned the win. RHP Austin Laycock struck out the side in the sixth inning for the Bruins, and RHP Ryan Reynolds struck out two batters in the seventh. The Bruin pitchers combined for nine strikeouts in the game.
