Salt Lake City, Utah-  No. 21 SLCC Softball (11-7) won both games today against USU-Eastern (7-7) in the Bruins home-opener. 

Salt Lake won game one 10-1 in five innings. The Bruins scored two runs in the bottom of the first as Jettlee Ioane hit an RBI triple and Lafiana Fifita brought Ioane in to score. SLCC plated five runs in the bottom of the third with a two-RBI double from Irma Media and a three-run home run from Hannah Barlow. Barlow finished with six RBI as she hit another three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to end the game. 

LHP Brecka Larson threw all five innings for the Bruins and gave up a solo home run which was her only hit surrendered in the game. Larsen struck out six batters. 

The Bruins won game two 12-4. Salt Lake plated a couple of runs in the bottom of the first on wild pitches. Additionally, an RBI single from Lahela Painter and an RBI double from Lyndee Marshall gave the Bruins a 4-0 lead after one inning of play. 

Salt Lake scored six runs in the bottom of the third. Lafiana Fifita started the scoring in the third with an RBI double. Jazmine Prathan hit a two-run home run that brought in Fafita. Irma Medina added an RBI single and Barlow hit her third home run of the day. Marshall added an insurance run for the Bruins in the bottom of the fourth with a sac-fly. 

The Eagles scored two runs in the top of the fifth to extend the 11-4 game. Makaila Schneider ended the game with an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth that scored Taylor Jones. Elliott Plewe threw four innings for Salt Lake and picked up the win.
