WEST JORDAN, Utah- No. 1 seed Salt Lake won game 1 of the Region 18 Championship Series 9-8 over No. 2 seed USU-Eastern as LF Chandler Reber stole home with two outs to secure the walk-off win for the Bruins.
Salt Lake never had a lead until the final score. The Bruins tied the game three different times before getting the win in extra innings. Chandler Reber kept the Bruins alive going 2 for 3 with two home runs and 5 RBI. It was only fitting that the left fielder walked it off in a heroic fashion.
Salt Lake trailed by two runs heading into the bottom of the ninth. CF Luke Jacobs led off the inning with a solo home run and 3B Taylor Ayala had a massive RBI double with two outs.
The Bruins used five different pitchers and RHP Darius Henderson picked up the win as he pitched a scoreless ninth and tenth inning. Salt Lake's ace RHP Gage Olsen exited in the first inning with an injury and faced only three batters.
