WEST JORDAN, Utah (Friday, April 19, 2024)— The ninth-ranked Bruins stumbled at home against USU Eastern, needing a comeback to win game one before the bats went silent in a game two loss.
Salt Lake is now 37-7 overall and 21-5 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Game One
SLCC 7 | USU E 6
The Bruins overcame a four-run, first-inning deficit, rallying for a series-opening win.
Garrison Sumner wasn't sharp in the start, giving up seven hits and walking five batters in three innings of work. Taylor Ayala came out of the bullpen to pitch the final four innings, striking out three and not allowing a run to get the win.
Luke Jacobs was 1-1 with three walks and two runs scored. Jake Olsen and Garrett Bauer each had two hits.
Game Two
SLCC 1 | USU E 6
The Eagles put up another four-spot in the first inning courtesy of a grand slam off of Gage Olsen. Olsen was saddled with the loss after SLCC's bats went cold with runners on.
Reigning SWAC Player of the Week, Easton Romero scored the Bruins' only run, crossing the plate on a double-play groundout from Avery Doezie.

The No. 9 Bruins (37-7, 21-5) look to Utah State University Eastern (22-17, 12-10) in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 20. First pitch is Friday at 11 a.m. MT. Salt Lake is second in the SWAC regular season standings, trailing Southern Nevada by a game in the loss column.
