TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (Friday, March 8, 2024) – No. 3 Salt Lake advanced to the Region 18 championship game with a 99-62 win over visiting North Idaho.
The top-seeded Bruins led wire-to-wire, advancing to set up a rubber match with two-seed Southern Idaho.
Jordan Battle went off in the opening minutes, scoring 12 points in the game's first four minutes. Battle finished the night with 24 points, making nine of ten shots, and registered five boards, five assists, and five steals.
Xavier Edmonds scored 16 points, grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, and blocked three shots. CJ Luster scored 13 points out of the sixth-man role, while Mason Bendinger added 11.
SLCC shot 53.5 percent for the game and finished with 10 team steals, turning the Cardinals over 15 times.
The Bruins face CSI for the third time this season after the Golden Eagles beat USU Eastern with a thrilling second-half comeback to win 79-78. Tip-off for the Region 18 title game is at 3 p.m. MT at Bruin Arena in Taylorsville, UT.
Southern Idaho topped SLCC 70-65 in Twin Falls on January 10. Salt Lake returned the favor with a 76-64 win in Bruin Arena on February 15.
