WEST JORDAN, Utah (Saturday, March 22, 2024)— The Bruins extended their winning streak to 12 games with a comeback win to open a doubleheader sweep over Treasure Valley Community College.
Salt Lake improved to 27-3 with six wins in three days at the new and improved Cate Field.
Game One
SLCC 7 | TVCC 6
The Bruins gave up three first-inning runs before falling behind 6-0 after five innings of play.
First baseman Avery Doezie hit a three-run, sixth-inning home run as the Bruins started a late rally. After cutting the deficit to one in the seventh, a two-RBI double from Luke Jacobs gave SLCC their first lead in the eighth.
Beau Sampson pitched the final two innings, striking out four batters to get the win.
Jacobs finished the day 3-4 with a run scored and a walk. Doezie was 3-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.
Game Two
SLCC 5 | TVCC 1
Gage Olsen struck out 11 in four innings to get the win. Braden Nelson and Taylor Ayala combined to give up one hit and strike out five over the final fine innings.
Gage Easton went 2-3 with an RBI double and a run scored.
After falling behind by six runs in the first game, the Bruin outscored TVCC 12-1 over the final 13 innings.
