No. 19 Salt Lake Women's Basketball go 2-1 in New Mexico

SLCC Ends the Weekend with a Loss to No. 3 New Mexico Junior College

HOBBS, New Mexico (Friday-Sunday, December 13-15, 2024)- No. 19 Salt Lake Women's Basketball (11-3) had three games in three days at a multi-team event hosted by New Mexico Junior College. Salt Lake went 2-1 on the weekend. 

On Friday, the Bruins defeated the University of Southwest JV team 99-33. Salt Lake had six players record double-figures. 

On Saturday, Salt Lake beat Northeastern Junior College (2-13) 75-38. Bruin freshman Nari Powers went 4-4 on three-pointers and led all scorers with 23 points. 

Sophomore Blanche Toualeu recorded 10 points and 8 rebounds for Salt Lake. Freshman Simran Williams added 10 points for the Bruins.

On Sunday the Bruins fell to No. 3 New Mexico Junior College (14-0) 71-56. Salt Lake was down by six after three quarters, but were outscored 17-8 in the fourth. Williams led the Bruins with 19 points and Nari Powers netted double-figures with 10 points. 

New Mexico had 17 offensive rebounds and shot 12 more free throws than Salt Lake.

Salt Lake will prepare for their conference opener as they host Snow College on Thursday January, 2nd. Tip-off is at 5:00 p.m. in Bruin Arena.
