TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 31, 2023) – A match of in-state rivals brought all of the thrills one would expect.

The No. 16 SLCC Softball team opened a Scenic West Athletic Conference series at Snow College with a doubleheader sweep, posting wins of 8-0 and 22-18. The victories lift SLCC to 22-7 overall and 16-2 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.

Salt Lake and Snow will play another doubleheader Saturday.

Salt Lake 8, Snow 0: Late scoring lifted the Bruins to the victory.

Scoreless through four innings, the game's offense picked up in the top of the fifth inning as SLCC took a 3-0 lead, powered by a
Mikelle Anthony RBI single. Salt Lake added more offense in the sixth and seventh innings, with
Trinity Benson and
Alyssa Mighell posting RBI singles in the sixth inning.
Ry Binne added another RBI single in the seventh inning.

Anthony went 3-of-4 in the game to lead Salt Lake.
Tiffany Hermansen earned the shutout win, posting four strikeouts in the win.

Salt Lake 22, Snow 18: A game that featured 44 hits ended with a SLCC victory in extra innings.

In a game full of offensive highlights, Salt Lake had 11 extra-base hits, finishing with
Alyssa Mighell,
Mikelle Anthony and
Bailey Marvin all hitting home runs. Tied at 16-16 in the ninth inning,
Ry Binne added a two-run triple, followed up by a
Trinity Benson RBI single.
Alyssa Mighell then added a two-run home run to give the Bruins a needed advantage for the win.

Mighell went 5-of-7, with Marvin going 4-of-5.
Brooklyn Pritchett was 5-of-6. Salt Lake had eight hitters with multi-hit games.
