TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 27, 2023) – It has been a wild preseason for the No. 16 SLCC Softball team.
Â
The Bruins had a home series with Southern Nevada rescheduled to Monday in the Las Vegas Valley, due to snow over the weekend in Salt Lake City. Changing venues did little to affect the Bruins, with SLCC earning wins of 14-4 and 15-2 over the Lady Coyotes. SLCC is now 18-7 overall and 12-2 in Scenic West play.
Â
Salt Lake and Southern Nevada will play another doubleheader Tuesday.Â
Â
Salt Lake 14, Southern Nevada 4: SLCC started fast and never looked back in a run-rule victory to open the series.Â
Â
The Bruins carved up the Lady Coyotes with a series of base hits and timely running, taking a 5-0 lead midway through the third inning on a
Brooklyn Pritchett RBI single. Salt Lake then boosted its lead to 14-0 after back-to-back home runs by
Lyndsey Madrigal and
Bailey Marvin.Â
Â
Marvin went 3-of-4 in the game to lead CSN, while Ry Bin and Madrigal both were 2-of-4. Pritchett was 2-of-3 with a pair of RBI's. Â
Â
Salt Lake 15, Southern Nevada 2: Another hot start played a strong role in lifting the Bruins to the doubleheader sweep.
Â
Chloe Woods hit an RBI single in the third inning to give Salt Lake a 4-0 lead, with
Lyndsey Madrigal then adding a two-run home run in the sixth inning to boost SLCC's lead to 9-0. The Bruins would go on to score eight runs in the sixth inning, finishing with five extra-base hits.Â
