TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 13, 2023) – A pair of impressive victories lifted the Salt Lake Community College Baseball team to a series sweep Monday.

Hosting Colorado Northwestern at Cate Field, the Bruins earned wins of 7-1 and 11-1 to move to 4-0 in the series against the Spartans. Salt Lake is now 8-8 overall and 7-1 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play after the wins.

The Bruins will travel to Twin Falls this weekend, playing longtime Scenic West rival Southern Idaho.Â

Salt Lake 7, Colorado Northwestern 1: A pair of big innings lifted the Bruins to the win.Â

Jalen Seward hit a two-run double in the fourth inning to give Salt Lake a 4-0 lead, with
Trey Gambill then adding an RBI single for SLCC.
Preston Winget also had a pair of RBI singles in the game.

Winget went 3-of-3 at the plate, finishing with a pair of RBI's.
Jaxon Weatherly also went 2-of-4, scoring a run.
Dalton Smith earned the pitching win, throwing a complete game and finishing with two strikeouts.Â

Salt Lake 11, Colorado Northwestern 1: SLCC started fast and never looked back in the run-rule win.Â

The Bruins took a 7-0 lead after the first inning, utilizing a
Daniel Gonzalez RBI single and a
Preston Winget RBI single to take an early lead.
Taylor Ayala added a pinch-hit, two-run single in the fifth inning, with
Trey Gambill hitting an RBI single to walk-off the game in a Salt Lake win.

Gonzalez led SLCC, going 2-of-3 and scoring a run.
Blake Stanger earned the pitching win, finishing with three strikeouts.Â
