TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 11, 2023) – A delayed series start proved to be no issue for the Salt Lake Community College Softball team Sunday.

SLCC posted a doubleheader sweep of Scenic West foe Colorado Northwestern, earning run-rule victories of 24-0 and 20-1 in the day's action. The wins boost Salt Lake to 11-6 overall and 5-1 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.

Salt Lake will host CNCC in another doubleheader Monday.

Salt Lake 24, Colorado Northwestern 0: Four innings was all it took for SLCC to post a win in the series opener.

Lyndsey Madrigal hit a three-run home run in the first inning, opening a barrage of Bruin scoring that saw Salt Lake post 17 runs in the third inning.
Madison Shell hit a three-run home run in the third inning, with
Trinity Benson notching a bases-clearing double in the frame.

Alyssa Mighell was a perfect 5-of-5 in the game, finishing with four RBI's. Madrigal and Shell also posted four RBI's each.
Tiffany Hermansen earned the pitching win, throwing four innings and finishing with six strikeouts.Â

Salt Lake 20, Colorado Northwestern 1: SLCC posted another run-rule win to close the doubleheader, scoring 13 runs in the fourth inning.

Madrigal again jumpstarted SLCC's offense, hitting a two-run double in the first inning to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead.
Bailey Marvin then added to the tally in the fourth inning with a three-run home run, then hit another three-run blast in the same frame.

Marvin went 3-of-4 at the plate in the game, finishing with six RBI's. Salt Lake had ten extra-base hits in the win.
