TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 9, 2023) – The No. 5 Salt Lake Community College Men's Basketball team lost a chance at a season sweep of Snow College on Thursday.
SLCC fell to 2-1 against the in-state rival Badgers on the road, dropping a last-second 84-83 loss. The defeat moves the Bruins to 24-3 overall, with a mark of 12-3 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play that sits SLCC behind Southern Idaho.
The Bruins jumped out to a strong halftime lead, taking a 49-41 lead into intermission. Snow responded in the second half though, going 15-of-30 from the field to bring the game to 83-83 with just seconds remaining. Chase Potter hit a free throw with just four seconds left, with a
Hunter Erickson last-ditch shot hitting the rim at the buzzer.
Jared Garcia scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Bruins, going 9-of-13 from the field.
Alejandro Vasquez scored 17 points, while
Jaquan Scott had 13 points. Erickson also posted 10 points.
Salt Lake will host a pair of home games next week, playing both Southern Nevada and USU Eastern inside the Lifetime Activities Center.
