TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 25, 2023) – The No. 7 Salt Lake Community College Athletic Department will have a final shot to dethrone the College of Southern Idaho, that shot just won't come until next week's Region 18 championship game.

Trying to earn its first win over CSI after two narrow decisions, the Bruins lost a 99-88 game at Southern Idaho to close the regular season. SLCC is locked into the No. 2 seed in next week's Region 18 tournament, which will also be contested at Southern Idaho.Â

CSI proved its No. 1 ranking, taking a 45-39 lead and rarely trailing from there. The Golden Eagles led by as many as 16 points in the game.

Hunter Erickson posted 25 points in the loss, while
Alejandro Vasquez had 19 points.
Jalen Weaver finished with 11 points.Â

The loss sets Salt Lake at 26-4 overall, with a mark of 14-4 in the Scenic West.Â
