TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 18, 2023) – A cold day outside didn't damper the warm mood of 'Sophomore Day' for the Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball team.
SLCC earned a 68-57 win over USU Eastern in Saturday's regular season home finale, earning its first win of the season over the Lady Eagles. The win moved the Bruins to 21-7 overall and 11-6 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Salt Lake and USU Eastern never got much separation from each other, with the Bruins holding a narrow 37-30 lead. The Bruins would eventually lead by as many as 15 points during the fourth quarter.
Aminata Diakite had a standout performance for the Bruins, scoring 26 points.
Finau Tonga also had a double-double, finishing with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
SLCC will close the regular season on the road next week, traveling to play No. 4 Southern Idaho.
