TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (Saturday, December 9, 2023) – Salt Lake reached a dozen straight wins to open the 2023-24 campaign with an 85-68 win over Otero College (6-7) to close the Region IX Challenge.
The Bruins are 12-0 after beating the Rattlers on Saturday afternoon.
Less than 18 hours after a win against Trinidad State, Michael Folarin came off the bench to spearhead the Bruins attack. In his first year with SLCC after spending last season with the Nevada Wolf Pack, Folarin made 8-of-9 shots for a team-high 18 points. The 18 points equaled his season-high coming against Laramie County on November 29.
Redshirt sophomore guard Bryce Zephir added 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Redshirt sophomore Jordan Battle (12 points) was held below his season average of 14.4. Battle added eight assists, four boards, and two steals. Mason Bendinger (12 points) and Xavier Edmonds (10 points) also scored double-figures for an incredibly deep Bruins team.
The No. 2 Bruins will host Laramie County CC on Tuesday, December 12. Tip-off for this game is 5 p.m. (MT). This will be Salt Lake's final game before a 16-day holiday break. Find tickets for all Salt Lake Community College events here.
