TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (Friday, December 8, 2023) – Salt Lake opened the Region IX Challenge with an 86-65 win over Trinidad State College.
Ranked second in the country in the most recent NJCAA top 25 poll, SLCC improved to 11-0 with the win.
Six Bruins reached double-figure scoring, topped by 17 points from reigning SWAC Player of the Week CJ Luster. Luster knocked down four of Salt Lake's 13 threes.
Xavier Edmonds added a dozen points with a team-high two blocks. Bryce Zephir, Mikhail Abdul-Hamid, and Jordan Battle each added 11 points. Mason Bendinger rounded out the group with 10 points.
Salt Lake's defense limited Trinidad State to 40.3 percent shooting.
