TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 4, 2023) – The Salt Lake Community College Men's Basketball team returned to Scenic West Athletic Conference with a thunderous performance Wednesday.
Â
SLCC, who fell in a disappointing loss to Southern Idaho in its last league game, returned to play with a three-game sweep in last week's 'Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout' tournament in Arizona. The Bruins then continued to build on that momentum with a 92-76 win at Southern Nevada Wednesday, a win that lifted Salt Lake to 15-1 overall and 4-1 in Scenic West play.
Â
The Bruins were dominant in the win, shooting a crisp 52.2 percent from the field and leading by as many as 17 points in the second half. SLCC also held a 41-30 rebounding edge.
Â
Jared Garcia led Salt Lake with 19 points, while
Jaquan Scott had a double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds.
Alejandro Vasquez and
Andre Mulibea both finished with 14 points.
Jalen Weaver also posted 10 points.Â
Â
Salt Lake will play Scenic West games at Community Christian on Friday and Saturday.
