TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 29, 2022) – Blustery winds didn't blow away the Salt Lake Community College Softball team's ability to win Friday.

SLCC, opening a four-game series with the College of Southern Nevada, earned wins of 8-0 and 3-1 to move to 30-14 overall. The victory lifts the Bruins to 5-1 over CSN this season, along with helping the team to a mark of 28-11 in Scenic West Athletic Conference games.

Salt Lake and Southern Nevada will play another doubleheader on Saturday, with games at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The program will also celebrate 'Sophomore Day' festivities prior to the first game.

Salt Lake 8, Southern Nevada 0: A standout performance lifted the Bruins to a run-rule victory.

Lyndsey Madrigal was a key performer for SLCC in the series opener, hitting a pair of home runs. Madrigal first hit a two-run home run in the first inning, then added a three-run home run in the fourth inning.

Madrigal was 2-of-3 in the game with 5 RBI's.
Avery Takahashi was 2-of-2 at the plate.
Bailey Frischknecht earned the pitching win, allowing just three hits in five innings.Â

Salt Lake 3, Southern Nevada 1: A walk-off home run closed the day for Salt Lake in a low-scoring game.

In a game where defense and pitching were at a premium, it was CSN who scored first in the fourth inning, with
Hola Nakayama hitting a solo home run in the bottom half of the frame to tie the game at 1-1. Still tied in the bottom of the seventh inning,
Brooklyn Pintar hit a pinch-hit, two-run home run to lift the Bruins to victory.

Jayci Finch earned the pitching victory for SLCC, throwing a complete game while poting four strikeouts.Â
