TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 29, 2022) – The No. 12 Salt Lake Community College Baseball team purred through a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader Friday.

SLCC earned a doubleheader sweep over USU Eastern at Cate Field, earning wins of 10-0 and 7-4 to move to 3-0 in this weekend's series. The Bruins are now 37-8 overall and 31-4 in Scenic West play with the win.

Salt Lake and USU Eastern will play the series finale on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

Salt Lake 10, USU Eastern 0: SLCC dominated in a run-rule victory.

Karson Bodily hit an RBI double in the fourth inning to key the rally, with SLCC earning five RBI's on extra-base hits. Jaxson Weatherly went 3-of-4 at the plate to lead Salt Lake. The Bruins finished with 11 hits in the game.

Daxton Purser earned the pitching victory, throwing six innings and allowing just two runs. The Ridgeline High product also produced seven strikeouts.Â

Salt Lake 7, USU Eastern 4: A fast start for the Bruins gave way to a mid-game rally for USU Eastern, still SLCC prevailed.

Salt Lake took a 3-0 lead after the first inning, keyed by a
Daniel Gonzalez RBI single.
Braden Winget then hit a two-run double in the second inning to boost SLCC's advantage to 5-0.Â

USU Eastern came roaring back in the fourth inning, hitting a pair of two-run home runs to cut the SLCC advantage to 5-4. Winget responded in the bottom of the fourth inning with an RBI single, then hit
Cade Perkins hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to close out the game.

Spencer Jones earned the pitching win for Salt Lake, finishing with six strikeouts in five innings.Â
