TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 23, 2022) – The No. 10 Salt Lake Community College Baseball team achieved the first of its many goals on Saturday, in spite of a loss.

SLCC claimed the Scenic West regular-season title despite a 7-6 loss to Southern Idaho in extra innings. The loss drops SLCC to 34-8 overall and 28-4 in Scenic West games, still giving the Bruins the right to host the upcoming Region 18 championships at Cate Field.

In a game that went back-and-forth, Salt Lake took a 5-3 lead midway through the seventh inning after a
Braden Winget RBI single. CSI came back to take a 6-5 lead in the bottom half of the seventh inning on a three-run home run. Winget added another RBI single in the eighth inning to tie the game, with CSI eventually winning on an RBI single in the 11
thinning.

Hunter Swapp went 2-of-4 at the plate to lead Salt Lake, while Winget was 2-of-6 with 3 RBI's.Â

Salt Lake will host in-state rival USU Eastern in a four-game series next weekend.
