TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 22, 2022) – A matchup between the top teams in the Scenic West Athletic Conference ended with a sweep for the Salt Lake Community College Softball team Friday.

The Bruins had wins of 9-1 and against the College of Southern Idaho on the day's record, moving to 3-3 against the Lady Golden Eagles. The sweep sits Salt Lake at 28-12 overall and 26-9 in Scenic West play, leaving the Bruins just two games behind CSI in the league standings.

Salt Lake and Southern Idaho will play another doubleheader on Friday.

Salt Lake 9, Southern Idaho 1: Early hitting led the Bruins to a strong win.

Hola Nakayama hit a two-run home run in the first inning to help lead the Bruins to a 3-0 lead, followed up by Salt Lake scoring three more runs in the fourth inning.
Alyssa Mighell added a two-run home run in the fourth inning, with Anqelique Mann also hitting a solo home run in the inning.

Allie Laub went 2-of-4 at the plate with a pair of RBI's. Mighell was 2-of-3 with 3 RBI's.
Bailey Frischknecht earned the pitching win, throwing a complete game and allowing just five strikeouts.Â

Salt Lake 5, Southern Idaho 2: A strong performance at the plate by
Lyndsey Madrigal lifted the Bruins to a win.

Madrigal hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to boost SLCC to a 4-1 lead, then followed up with an RBI single in the seventh inning. Salt Lake scored three runs in the fourth inning to claim the lead initially.

Madrigal was 2-of-4 at the plate with a pair of RBI's.
Jayci Finch earned the pitching win, throwing a complete game and spreading out 10 hits over 7 innings.Â
