TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 21, 2022) – A series opener with a Scenic West Athletic Conference regional rival ended in victory for the No. 10 Salt Lake Community College Baseball team.

The Bruins earned a 6-1 win to open a four-game series at Southern Idaho Thursday, moving to 4-1 on the season over the Golden Eagles. Salt Lake is now 33-6 overall and 27-2 in Scenic West play with the win.Â

Chase Taylor jump started SLCC with a solo home run in the fifth inning, with Salt Lake scoring three runs in the sixth inning to up the lead to 4-1. Taylor added an RBI single in the eighth inning, followed up by
Zachary Blaszak adding an RBI double.

Taylor went 2-of-4 at the plate to lead the Bruins, posting a pair of RBI's.
Derik Eaquinto had another dominant pitching performance for SLCC, throwing a complete game of nine innings and finishing with 12 strikeouts.Â

Salt Lake and Southern Idaho will play a doubleheader on Friday.
