No. 16. SLCC Baseball earns Scenic West doubleheader sweep

TAYLORVILLE, Utah (April 1, 2022) – The No. 16 Salt Lake Community College Baseball earned a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep on Saturday.
 
SLCC picked up victories of 6-0 and 21-1 to move to 3-0 in a series with Community Christian College. The victories lifted the Bruins to 24-5 overall and 18-1 in Scenic West games.
 
Salt Lake and Community Christian will play the series finale on Saturday.
 
Salt Lake 6, Community Christian 0: Strong hitting made the difference in a SLCC win to open the doubleheader.
 
Kaleb Bodily hit an RBI double in the first inning, followed up by a Colton Easton two-run double in the second. Hunter Swapp also added an RBI double in the second inning to up the lead to 4-0. 
 
Both Bruer Webster and Braden Winget going 2-of-3 at the plate, with Bodily going 2-of-4. Daxton Purser earned the pitching win, throwing four scoreless innings while posting six strikeouts. 
 
Salt Lake 21, Community Christian 1:  An eleven-run inning in the third inning lifted the Bruins to a run-rule victory.
 
Zachary Blaszak hit an RBI double in the second inning, with Jaxon Weatherly hitting an RBI double later in the inning. Travis Johnson hit a two-run double in the third inning, followed up by Hunter Swapp hitting a grand-slam home run to lift the Bruins to an 18-0 win.
 
Swapp went 4-of-4 in the game, finishing with six RBI's. Spencer Jones threw four scoreless innings to earn the win.
