TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 31, 2022) – The No. 16 Salt Lake Community College Baseball team opened a Scenic West Athletic Conference series the only way it knows how right now – the winning way.
SLCC earned a 13-1 victory over Community Christian College at Cate Field to open a four-game series on Thursday. The win lifts the Bruins to 22-5 overall and 16-1 in Scenic West play.
A series of doubles lifted the Bruins out to a fast start, with
Braden Winget and
Travis Johnson both hitting two-run doubles in the inning.
Bruer Webster added an RBI double in the third inning, followed by a
Chase Taylor RBI double in the fourth inning.
Karson Bodily hit a grand-slam home run later in the fourth inning to end the game.
Bodily finished 2-of-3 at the plate to lead Salt Lake, also posting 5 RBI's. The Bruins had three players finish with multi-RBI games. Derek Eaquinto earned the victory, throwing five innings with striking out eight CCC batters.
Salt Lake and Community Christian will play a doubleheader on Friday.
