TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 26, 2022) – A trip to warmer weather was just what the Salt Lake Community College Softball team needed, apparently.

The Bruins finished off a Scenic West Athletic Conference series victory on Saturday, moving to 3-1 in a series at Southern Nevada with a win of 8-4 and an 11-3 loss in a doubleheader. The split boosts Salt Lake to 16-10 overall and 14-7 in league play.

SLCC will host a four-game series with in-state rival Snow College next weekend.Â

Salt Lake 8, Southern Nevada 4: Consistent scoring lifted the Bruins to the win.

Livi Arona hit an RBI single in the second inning, then
Jayci Finch added a two-run single in the third inning to up the lead to 4-1.
Lyndsey Madrigal added a two-run double in the fourth inning, with
Hola Nakayama also hitting an RBI single in the inning.Â

Nakayama went 3-of-4 in the game.
Briley Young earned the pitching win, spreading seven hits in a complete game victory.Â

Southern Nevada 11, Salt Lake 3: CSN jumped out to a big lead and never looked back in the loss.
Â
CSN took a 4-0 lead after the second inning, taking a lead it never surrendered.
Josee Haycock scored an unearned run in the third inning to get the Bruins on the board, followed by
Hola Nakayama hitting an RBI double. Haycock then hit an RBI triple in the fourth inning to cut the deficit 4-3. However, SLCC never scored again.

Haycock went 2-of-2 in the loss.Â
