TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 19, 2022) – The No. 19 Salt Lake Community College Baseball team had its first bump in the Scenic West road Saturday.
SLCC was defeated for the first time in Scenic West Athletic Conference games this season, falling 4-2 against Southern Idaho in a series finale. The Bruins are now 11-1 in Scenic West games, part of an 17-5 overall record.
Salt Lake opened well, showing signs of continuing its strong play in Scenic West games this season.
Hunter Swapp hit an RBI single in the fourth inning to get the Bruins on the board, then
Braden Winget added a sacrifice fly RBI to up the SLCC lead to 2-0. From there, Southern Idaho scored four unanswered runs, with the Bruins coming up short for the rest of the game.
Bruer Webster went 2-of-4 in the game to lead Salt Lake.
Cameron Bott took the pitching loss in relief.
Salt Lake will travel to play a four-game series at USU Eastern next weekend, with the series opening on Thursday in Price.
